What you will study

Term 1: Game-art foundations

Build the visual and technical foundations needed for game production. Modules cover 3D fundamentals, digital sculpting, texturing and shading, game design, animation fundamentals, 3D modeling, foundation drawing, and lighting and rendering.

Term 2: Choose your specialisation

Develop deeper skills through one of two pathways:

• 3D Modeling: refine digital sculpting and create detailed, production-ready game assets.
• 3D Animation: explore body mechanics, character movement and the principles that bring game characters to life.

Term 3: Production and portfolio

Deploy models and animations into Unreal Engine while completing a professional final project. Core learning includes character rigging, lighting and rendering, self-management and portfolio production, supported by hard-surface modeling or acting modules according to your specialisation.

Industry tools and real-time workflows

The program combines artistic training with practical production. Students work with Unreal Engine, Maya and ZBrush while learning how models, textures, animation, lighting and game-engine deployment connect inside a professional pipeline.

University progression

Eligible graduates may be considered for direct entry into Year 2 of related University of Hertfordshire bachelor’s programs, including 3D Animation and VFX, 3D Games Art and Design, Digital Art in Animation, Game and Immersion, and Digital Technologies in Animation, Game and Immersion. Selected students who complete the additional six-month Specialist Diploma may qualify for Year 3 entry.

Progression remains subject to academic performance, portfolio review, English-language requirements, course matching and university approval.

Entry requirements

• Applicants must be above 16.
• Completion of GCE O Levels or an equivalent high-school qualification with at least three passes, including English.
• A creative portfolio must be submitted.
• Applicants must pass the admissions interview.
