What you will study
Term 1: Design fundamentals
Build a strong base in composition, colour theory, typography, digital imaging, 3D fundamentals and animation. Modules include Motion Design Development, Visual Communication and 2D Motion Design, with practical training in Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects and Cinema 4D.
Term 2: Studio projects
Apply your skills to simulated real-world briefs. Students develop concepts and storyboards, create purposeful transitions, combine 2D and 3D motion, and explore art direction, 3D animation, compositing and branding animation.
Term 3: Advanced projects and showreel
Create advanced work such as product commercials and title-sequence animation. Three major motion-graphics projects, self-management training and demo-reel development help students present a coherent professional portfolio.
Creative tools and industry practice
Training combines design thinking with production technique. Students learn to communicate ideas through typography, image, rhythm, timing and movement while working with After Effects, Cinema 4D, Photoshop, Illustrator and other tools in the Adobe Creative Suite.

University progression
Eligible graduates may be considered for direct entry into Year 2 of related University of Hertfordshire bachelor’s programs, including Graphic Design, Graphic Design (Advertising & Branding), Illustration, Digital Art in Animation, Game and Immersion, and Digital Technologies in Animation, Game and Immersion. Selected students who complete the additional six-month Specialist Diploma may qualify for Year 3 entry.
Progression is subject to academic results, portfolio review, English-language requirements, course compatibility and university approval.
Entry requirements
- Applicants must be above 16.
- Completion of GCE O Levels or an equivalent high-school qualification with at least three passes, including English.
- A creative portfolio must be submitted.
- Applicants must pass the admissions interview.
Previous design or animation experience is helpful but not required. Admission considers creative potential and dedication. Asia Pathway can help applicants select and present work that shows ideas, composition and visual communication.
