Acerca del Programa
Resumen del Programa
Study the science behind living systems, materials and the natural environment through an English-taught U.S. curriculum. Wenzhou-Kean University offers three laboratory-based pathways for international students who want to investigate complex problems and contribute to scientific discovery.
Choose Biology with a Cell and Molecular Biology option, Chemistry or Environmental Science. Each pathway combines scientific theory with practical investigation, analytical thinking and research experience. Successful graduates receive bachelor’s degrees from both Wenzhou-Kean University and Kean University in the United States.
Use science to understand and improve the world
Scientific progress supports advances in healthcare, biotechnology, materials, environmental protection and sustainable development. WKU helps students build the knowledge and laboratory skills needed to investigate these fields carefully and communicate results in an international setting.
You will learn in English from globally recruited faculty while developing experimental design, data analysis, problem-solving and scientific communication skills. The programs can prepare you for research and technical careers or competitive postgraduate education.
Choose the scientific pathway that fits you
Biology: Cell and Molecular Biology — Bachelor of Science
Explore life at the cellular, molecular and organismal levels. The program combines biology with supporting study in chemistry and physics, then develops specialist knowledge through genetics, microbiology, cell physiology, molecular genetics, anatomy and physiology.
Students learn how to design and conduct experiments, use scientific instruments and connect biological theory with practical research. Career and postgraduate directions include biotechnology, molecular biology, microbiology, biomedical research, genetic engineering, pharmacology and biological research and development.
Chemistry — Bachelor of Science
Build a broad understanding of how substances are structured, analysed and transformed. The curriculum covers quantitative analysis, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, instrumental analysis, physical chemistry, biochemistry and advanced organic preparation.
The program develops experimental technique, analytical reasoning and the ability to apply chemistry to real scientific and industrial questions. Graduates can explore research and technical opportunities in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, chemicals, food processing, agriculture, environmental chemistry, forensic chemistry, nanotechnology and related industries.
Environmental Science — Bachelor of Science
Study the connected systems that shape the Earth and its biosphere. The interdisciplinary curriculum brings together biology, sustainability science, geology, chemistry, meteorology, oceanography, ecosystem science and geographical information systems.
Students learn to collect and analyse samples, assess ecosystems, interpret environmental datasets and understand climate, biodiversity, water and geological processes. Career directions include environmental research, ecological assessment, sustainability, environmental planning, engineering projects, policy, education and non-governmental organisations.
Train in modern scientific laboratories
WKU’s College of Science, Mathematics and Technology operates approximately 8,200 square metres of teaching and research laboratories across biology, chemistry, environmental science and physics.
The Lab Center contains more than 800 teaching and research instruments valued at over RMB 55 million. Equipment includes confocal laser-scanning microscopes, mass spectrometers, flow cytometers, high-performance liquid chromatography, gas chromatography and high-performance computing clusters.
Develop practical research experience
Laboratory learning helps you move from a scientific question to an evidence-based conclusion. Students build experience in research design, sample collection, experimental methods, instrument use, data interpretation and scientific presentation.
Faculty research spans areas such as bioinformatics, biomedical and biopharmaceutical informatics, molecular biology, environmental systems and applied chemistry. Students may work with faculty on research projects, prepare presentations and build experience for postgraduate applications.
Prepare for careers and postgraduate study
The three programs develop transferable scientific skills that can support work in research organisations, technology and biotechnology companies, environmental organisations, laboratories, government agencies and education.
Students planning for advanced study can build a foundation for master’s or doctoral programs in biology, biotechnology, chemistry, environmental science and related areas. Biology and Chemistry can also provide relevant scientific preparation for further study in medicine, pharmacology and other health-related fields.

Sobre la Institución
Wenzhou-Kean University (WKU)

Wenzhou, Zhejiang
Wenzhou-Kean University (WKU) is a Chinese-American university in Wenzhou, in China's Zhejiang province, jointly established by Kean University in the United States and Wenzhou University. Approved by China's Ministry of Education, it is a full American university campus in China where 100% of the curriculum comes from Kean and every class is taught in English.
Graduates receive dual degrees from both Wenzhou-Kean University and Kean University, an American degree earned with a Chinese and global experience. The university enrols more than 5,300 students from over 30 countries and regions, and 100% of its faculty are recruited globally, the majority holding PhDs with international teaching experience.
The 500-acre campus sits in the foothills of Zhejiang and keeps expanding as the student population grows, with modern classrooms, laboratories, libraries, a stadium, cafes, music and recreation facilities and dormitories. Wenzhou is a coastal entrepreneurial city connected by high-speed rail to Hangzhou in about 1.5 hours and Shanghai in about 3 hours, with an international airport linking major cities across Asia and Europe.
WKU offers 18 undergraduate programs across four colleges: Business and Public Management; Liberal Arts; Science, Mathematics and Technology; and Architecture and Design. Students can change major freely in the first year, choose their general education courses, and take one to five terms of exchange at Kean in the United States. Eleven graduate programs are also offered, with priority admission for WKU undergraduates.
The academic model is small classes and inquiry-based learning using original American textbooks. The College of Business and Public Management is accredited by AACSB, a standard met by only a small share of business schools worldwide; Accounting is recognised by CPA Australia; Visual Communication Design is accredited by the United States NASAD; Architecture holds candidacy with the United States NAAB; and Psychology is recognised by the Psi Chi International Honor Society. WKU is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
Research is part of the undergraduate experience, with hundreds of faculty and student research projects, thousands of student presentations at the annual Student Research Day, and hundreds of papers published in international journals. In the QS Asian University Rankings 2026, WKU is placed in the 951 to 1000 band.
Graduate outcomes are a signature strength. In 2025 about 75% of graduates continued to further study, and across recent cohorts around 20% entered top-10, 60% top-50 and 83% top-100 global universities. Destinations include Harvard, Columbia, the University of Pennsylvania, Cornell, Johns Hopkins, the University of Chicago, Duke, New York University and the University of Melbourne, along with Oxford, Cambridge, University College London, Imperial College London, the National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University.
