Choose Psychology, Communication with a Public Relations specialization, or English with the English in Global Settings option. Successful graduates receive bachelor’s degrees from both Wenzhou-Kean University and Kean University in the United States.

Psychology — Bachelor of Arts

Study the mind and behaviour through scientific research and evidence-based analysis. The program develops knowledge of human development, personality, motivation, cognition and social behaviour while strengthening ethical awareness, interpersonal communication and research skills.

Core study includes Professional Psychology, Psychological Statistics, Tests and Measurements, Experimental Psychology and contemporary issues in psychology. Field-placement opportunities give students practical exposure through settings such as the on-campus Suntree Counseling Center and Wenzhou Psychiatric Hospital.

Career and postgraduate directions include research assistance, human services, human resources, mental-health support roles, education, organisational behaviour and advanced study in psychology or related professional fields.

Communication: Public Relations — Bachelor of Arts

Learn to create messages that inform, persuade and mobilise audiences across print, broadcast and digital platforms. The Public Relations specialization combines communication theory with practical skills in public speaking, journalism, digital video, media ethics, persuasion and campaign development.

Students can build experience through public-relations writing, case analysis, campaign planning, content production, WKU’s student magazine and campus radio. Career directions include public relations, corporate communications, media, content strategy, government and nonprofit communications, advocacy and international stakeholder engagement.

English: English in Global Settings — Bachelor of Arts

Develop advanced English, writing and language-analysis skills for a world where ideas travel across industries and cultures. The flexible curriculum allows students to shape their studies toward interests such as linguistics, literature, communication, journalism, teaching, translation or law.

The foundation core includes Structure and Origins of the English Language, Writing Process, Introduction to Linguistics, Cultural Rhetorics and Writing, Research in Language and Literature, and Writing for Cyberspace. Career directions include publishing, translation and interpretation, education, communications-focused roles, international organisations and postgraduate study.

Learn through applied projects and experience

Practical learning is built into all three pathways. Psychology students develop research and measurement skills and can gain field-placement experience. Communication students create content, analyse campaigns and practise multimedia storytelling. English students produce advanced writing, examine language in social and cultural contexts and tailor electives to their future direction.

These experiences help students build a portfolio of research, writing, presentations and projects that can strengthen applications for internships, employment and postgraduate education.

Degree and study structure

Duration: Four years of full-time undergraduate study.

Teaching language: English.

Psychology award: Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.

Communication award: Bachelor of Arts in Communication with a Public Relations specialization.

English award: Bachelor of Arts in English with the English in Global Settings option.

Dual degrees: Students who successfully satisfy all graduation requirements receive bachelor’s degrees from both Wenzhou-Kean University and Kean University.

International admission requirements

Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens holding a foreign passport and must have completed high school before enrolment. Students who are still finishing high school may apply with a pre-graduation certificate.

English-language requirements

International applicants whose first language is not English normally need a minimum TOEFL iBT score of 79, TOEFL paper-based score of 550, IELTS score of 6.0 or Duolingo English Test score of 105.

Scholarships for international students

Strong applicants can compete for a freshman scholarship worth 30% or 60% of annual tuition. Awards can be renewed each year across the four-year program, subject to WKU’s annual review.
