Sobre o Programa

Visão Geral do Programa

Turn your creativity into spaces that can shape communities, cities and everyday life. Wenzhou-Kean University’s English-taught Architecture program combines design, engineering, technology and social responsibility in an international studio environment.

Students learn through architectural projects from the beginning of the program, building the visual, technical and critical-thinking skills needed for advanced professional study and careers across architecture, planning and the wider design industry. Successful graduates receive bachelor’s degrees from both Wenzhou-Kean University and Kean University in the United States.

Design architecture with public purpose

Architecture is more than creating attractive buildings. WKU trains students to consider how design responds to people, communities, ecological limits, technology and the changing needs of cities.

The program approaches architecture as both a creative discipline and a public practice. You will learn how architects investigate a place, understand a client’s needs, develop ideas, test possible solutions and communicate a design to professional and public audiences.

Learn through an intensive studio experience

Design studios form the centre of the Architecture curriculum. Small classes and project-based teaching allow students to work closely with internationally recruited faculty while developing ideas through drawing, modelling, research, critique and presentation.

Students can contribute to architectural and planning projects connected with university and community spaces. These projects introduce the different people involved in public architecture, including clients, community groups, planning bodies and government organisations.

Regular reviews, exhibitions and invited lectures help students learn how to explain their decisions, respond to feedback and improve a project through multiple stages of development.

Combine design, technology and environmental thinking

The curriculum integrates architectural design with history, theory, structures, building systems, construction, representation and urban questions. Students explore how technology can support architectural ideas while considering environmental responsibility and the social effects of the built environment.

Digital tools are an important part of the learning process. Architecture students are expected to have a suitable laptop and may work with software such as Adobe Creative Cloud, AutoCAD, Revit and SketchUp during their studies.

Build an international architecture profile

All courses are taught in English through an American curriculum model. Students learn within the Michael Graves College of Architecture and Design and can connect their studies with the academic community of Kean University in the United States.

Architecture students may also explore short-term study experiences in countries such as Italy, France and the United States. These opportunities add direct exposure to different cities, architectural traditions and approaches to contemporary design.

More than 80% of WKU Architecture graduates continue to advanced architecture study, with destinations including Columbia University GSAPP, UCLA, University College London, the University of Cambridge, EPFL, the Architectural Association and Pratt Institute.

Career and professional pathways

The bachelor’s program provides a strong pre-professional foundation for students who plan to continue into a professional Master of Architecture. WKU also offers a joint M.Arch with continuing accreditation from the U.S. National Architectural Accrediting Board.

Graduate career directions include architectural design, urban and regional planning, landscape and environmental design, project management and related creative industries. Architecture training can also support work in areas such as industrial design, immersive media, technology and user-experience design.
