Summer & Short-Term Programs in Singapore

Why a short-term program in Singapore?

A summer or semester program in Singapore gives you a world-class education, an internship in a global hub, and easy access to the rest of Southeast Asia — all without committing to a full degree. And because instruction is in English, you can start in weeks, not a year.

University summer schools

  • NUS Summer Programme — engineering, business, and Asian studies modules over 4–8 weeks.
  • NTU Global Summer Programme — technology and design-focused courses plus cultural tours.
  • SMU Global Summer — business and finance modules in the heart of the city.

Most summer programs last 4–8 weeks, are open to international students, and include cultural excursions. Costs typically range from US$3,000–6,000 including accommodation, before flights.

Internships in Singapore

Singapore is one of Asia's strongest job markets, and short-term internships are a realistic route in for students. English fluency is the entry ticket. Options include:

  • University-arranged internships through your home school's exchange office.
  • Direct applications to the many multinationals headquartered in Singapore.
  • The Work Holiday Programme (WHP) for graduates of universities in select countries (including the US, ages 18–25) — a work-and-holiday pass, though it is not a study visa.

Language stays

Because English is the medium, a short-term English stay isn't usually needed. But if your goal is Mandarin, Singapore is a comfortable, safe place to start, with Chinese classes available through universities and language schools — a gentler alternative to studying in mainland China.

Visas for short programs

  • 4 weeks or less: most Western Hemisphere passports enter visa-free as visitors.
  • Longer than a month: you'll need a Student's Pass (STP) filed by your host institution via SOLAR+.

Choosing a program

  • Business & finance: SMU
  • Engineering & tech: NTU
  • All-round academics: NUS
  • Add an internship if you want a career-launchpad experience
