Computer Science and Data Analytics at Wenzhou-Kean University
Wenzhou-Kean University (WKU)

About the Program
Program Overview
Build the technical skills behind software, artificial intelligence and data-driven decision-making. Wenzhou-Kean University offers two English-taught pathways for international students who want to turn complex problems into practical digital solutions.
Choose Computer Science for a broad education in computing systems and software, or Mathematical Sciences with the Data Analytics option for a stronger focus on mathematics, statistics and extracting insight from data. Successful graduates receive bachelor’s degrees from both Wenzhou-Kean University and Kean University in the United States.
Prepare for a future shaped by technology and data
Technology employers need graduates who can do more than use digital tools. They need people who can understand how systems work, analyse information, write reliable code and communicate solutions clearly.
At WKU, you will study in English through a U.S. curriculum while gaining experience in China’s fast-moving technology environment. Small classes, faculty-led research, project work and internship opportunities help you develop skills for employment or competitive postgraduate study.
Choose the pathway that fits your strengths
Computer Science — Bachelor of Science
Learn how to design, build and improve computer-based solutions. The program combines computing theory with practical study in programming, data structures, algorithms, networking, computer architecture, operating systems and object-oriented analysis and design.
You can also explore areas such as artificial intelligence, data mining, database systems, cybersecurity, digital forensics, software engineering and web programming. This pathway is ideal for students who enjoy building technology and want the flexibility to move into software, systems, security, data or technical management.
Mathematical Sciences: Data Analytics — Bachelor of Arts
Develop the mathematical and statistical foundation needed to understand complex datasets and make evidence-based decisions. The program combines calculus, linear algebra, probability and statistics with applied data analytics.
Specialist study includes applied statistics, big data computing, foundations of data analysis, data visualisation and statistical data mining. Students work with programming environments such as Python, R and MATLAB, and can explore machine learning, regression analysis, numerical analysis and other advanced subjects through electives.
The flexible degree structure also allows students to take additional study in areas such as computer science, finance or economics, helping them connect analytical skills with a practical field of interest.
Build experience through projects and research
Both pathways are designed to move from concepts to application. Computer Science students can develop software, analyse algorithms and work on computing projects, while Data Analytics students use statistical software to investigate real-world datasets and present their findings.
Research opportunities cover areas such as artificial intelligence, human-computer interaction, privacy and security, sentiment analysis and data mining. Students can also strengthen their experience through internships, data science workshops, mathematical modelling activities and competitions.
Study in an international STEM environment
WKU’s College of Science, Mathematics and Technology brings together computer science, mathematics and the natural sciences. Students learn from internationally recruited faculty and can take part in interdisciplinary work that connects technology and data with business, health, education and scientific research.
The modern campus provides study spaces, computing resources, research facilities, student clubs, sports facilities and university accommodation. Living in Wenzhou also gives international students the opportunity to experience one of China’s most entrepreneurial and commercially active cities.

About the Institution
Wenzhou-Kean University (WKU)

Wenzhou, Zhejiang
Wenzhou-Kean University (WKU) is a Chinese-American university in Wenzhou, in China's Zhejiang province, jointly established by Kean University in the United States and Wenzhou University. Approved by China's Ministry of Education, it is a full American university campus in China where 100% of the curriculum comes from Kean and every class is taught in English.
Graduates receive dual degrees from both Wenzhou-Kean University and Kean University, an American degree earned with a Chinese and global experience. The university enrols more than 5,300 students from over 30 countries and regions, and 100% of its faculty are recruited globally, the majority holding PhDs with international teaching experience.
The 500-acre campus sits in the foothills of Zhejiang and keeps expanding as the student population grows, with modern classrooms, laboratories, libraries, a stadium, cafes, music and recreation facilities and dormitories. Wenzhou is a coastal entrepreneurial city connected by high-speed rail to Hangzhou in about 1.5 hours and Shanghai in about 3 hours, with an international airport linking major cities across Asia and Europe.
WKU offers 18 undergraduate programs across four colleges: Business and Public Management; Liberal Arts; Science, Mathematics and Technology; and Architecture and Design. Students can change major freely in the first year, choose their general education courses, and take one to five terms of exchange at Kean in the United States. Eleven graduate programs are also offered, with priority admission for WKU undergraduates.
The academic model is small classes and inquiry-based learning using original American textbooks. The College of Business and Public Management is accredited by AACSB, a standard met by only a small share of business schools worldwide; Accounting is recognised by CPA Australia; Visual Communication Design is accredited by the United States NASAD; Architecture holds candidacy with the United States NAAB; and Psychology is recognised by the Psi Chi International Honor Society. WKU is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
Research is part of the undergraduate experience, with hundreds of faculty and student research projects, thousands of student presentations at the annual Student Research Day, and hundreds of papers published in international journals. In the QS Asian University Rankings 2026, WKU is placed in the 951 to 1000 band.
Graduate outcomes are a signature strength. In 2025 about 75% of graduates continued to further study, and across recent cohorts around 20% entered top-10, 60% top-50 and 83% top-100 global universities. Destinations include Harvard, Columbia, the University of Pennsylvania, Cornell, Johns Hopkins, the University of Chicago, Duke, New York University and the University of Melbourne, along with Oxford, Cambridge, University College London, Imperial College London, the National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University.
