Develop the Korean you can use

Bring the four language skills together. The regular course develops listening, speaking, reading and writing alongside cultural education. Rather than treating Korean only as something to memorise, the learning approach connects language with practical communication and the situations students encounter around them.

  • Listening: strengthen your understanding of spoken Korean at your study level.
  • Speaking: practise expressing yourself and participating in Korean communication.
  • Reading: develop your ability to understand Korean texts appropriate to your class.
  • Writing: build clearer written communication as your language skills progress.

Start at the right level and build from there

A six-level structure supports different starting points. Beginners and more experienced learners enter suitable classes through placement testing. Classes are generally organised in groups of around 10–15 students, with actual group size and available levels confirmed for your intended term.

Make progress at a realistic pace. Your starting level, participation and assessment will influence progression. Completing a term does not automatically guarantee a particular TOPIK result or advancement to the next level; Kookmin’s class levels and external TOPIK scores are separate measures.

Choose a focused term or plan a longer journey

Create a routine that leaves room for life in Seoul. Morning classes are scheduled from 09:00 to 12:50, and afternoon classes from 13:00 to 16:50. These are alternative sessions, not a combined eight-hour daily course. Your allocated session and the current calendar will be confirmed before study begins.

Keep your longer-term goals in view. Students interested in more sustained study can ask about continuing across successive 10-week terms. Enrolment, level progression, accommodation between terms and immigration requirements must be checked individually. The course is language preparation, not an automatic offer of admission to a Kookmin degree.

Experience Korean culture in context

Understand more of the country behind the language. Cultural education and experience opportunities add context to classroom study. Activities vary by term; Asia Pathway can help you understand what is available, what is included and which options may carry an additional charge before you book.

Discover Seoul independently. Kookmin’s northern-Seoul campus offers a university environment with a greener, mountain-side outlook. Jeongneung’s heritage setting and Seoul’s wider palace, dining and shopping districts give students ideas for independent exploration. Personal sightseeing, transport and leisure spending are separate from tuition.

Student guidance and accommodation

Settle into your study experience with a clearer plan. Class-supervisor guidance covers areas such as attendance and study progress, with advice related to further-study and visa processes. Asia Pathway can help you identify the questions to resolve before arrival and understand the steps involved in your application.

Confirm your living arrangements separately. Kookmin has university residences, but availability and eligibility for regular language-course students must be confirmed. Room type, residence dates, meals and fees are not included in the tuition figure below.

Tuition per 10-week term and additional fees

Standard tuition: approximately USD 1,236 for one 10-week term.

Admission fee: approximately USD 75, additional to tuition.

What the page price covers: The displayed price is tuition for the single 10-week term described on this page. It is not a full-year price, an all-inclusive package or a quote for several terms.

Budget separately for: textbooks, accommodation, meals, insurance, flights, local transport, visa-related charges, personal expenses and any applicable banking or additional service charges.

Currency and final payment: USD amounts are indicative conversions of the university’s Korean-won fees, not fixed USD invoice amounts. Final charges depend on the current school invoice and exchange rate. Contact Asia Pathway for a complete quotation and the applicable payment and cancellation conditions before paying or booking travel.

Application documents and next steps

Prepare your application with the right checklist. The regular-course application materials include:

  • Online application form.
  • Passport copy.
  • ID photograph, 3 cm × 4 cm.
  • Graduation certificate from the last educational institution attended.
  • Bank-balance certificate.
  • Tuberculosis test result for dormitory submission, where applicable.

Your personal requirements matter. Document specifications, educational and age eligibility, financial evidence and any immigration-related minimum study period must be checked for your situation. Asia Pathway can help you confirm the current requirements before submission. Admission and visa decisions are made by the relevant university and authorities.

Build your Korean confidence in Seoul

Make language learning part of a wider university experience. Kookmin University offers a setting where structured Korean study meets everyday life in Korea’s capital. Its Korean Language Center, within the Institute for International Education, welcomes learners who want to develop their communication skills while experiencing a university environment. Asia Pathway can help you explore the right starting point and plan a study experience that fits your goals.

A university with a history dating to 1946

Discover Kookmin’s established academic community. Founded in 1946, Kookmin is a private university in Seongbuk-gu, northern Seoul. Its broader academic environment spans fields including business, humanities, design, engineering and computing. For language students, this provides a university setting for a focused non-degree course, rather than an automatic place on a degree program.

Structured Korean learning, step by step

Start at a level suited to your ability. The Regular Korean Language Program is organised into 10-week terms, with four terms offered each year. Its six-level structure covers beginner, intermediate and advanced study. Placement testing helps allocate students to a suitable class, while listening, speaking, reading and writing develop together through practical Korean communication.

Create a consistent study routine. Classes run five days per week, with four scheduled class hours or periods daily. Morning and afternoon sessions are available within the centre’s timetable; allocation depends on current arrangements. The advertised teaching model uses classes of around 10–15 students. Contact Asia Pathway to confirm the current class options and progression requirements.

Connect language with culture

Understand more than vocabulary alone. Cultural education and experience opportunities help place Korean in its everyday context. Outside class, living in Seoul offers opportunities to practise ordering food, using transport and exploring local neighbourhoods independently. Specific cultural activities, schedules and any additional charges should be checked for your chosen term.

Guidance while you adjust to university life

Build independence with a clearer plan. The language centre provides class-supervisor guidance covering areas such as attendance, study progress and adapting to university life. Guidance can also help students understand further-study and visa-related processes. Degree admission and immigration decisions remain separate assessments, and completing a language term does not guarantee a particular TOPIK score or university offer.

A Seoul campus with a greener outlook

Enjoy a different side of the capital. The campus is at 77 Jeongneung-ro, Seongbuk-gu, Seoul 02707, combining a northern-Seoul location with a mountain-side setting. Nearby Jeongneung Royal Tomb adds a heritage connection, while the wider city offers palace visits, shopping and cultural exploration. Public transport can connect you with other districts.

Read the map distances as a guide. The points of interest below use approximate straight-line distances from the campus reference point. Walking, road and public-transport journeys are longer and depend on your route. Attractions are suggestions for independent exploration, not guaranteed excursions included in tuition.

Plan accommodation and costs carefully

University residences are available within Kookmin’s wider accommodation provision. A place for a regular language-course student must be confirmed separately, including room type, residence dates, meals and charges. Do not assume that the short-term summer course’s housing arrangements apply to the regular course. Tuition, admission charges, textbooks, housing, insurance and everyday living costs should be considered separately when preparing your budget.

Start your Kookmin journey with Asia Pathway

Turn your interest in Korea into a practical study plan. We can help you compare study lengths, check entry requirements and current deadlines, clarify language-centre accommodation options and prepare your application documents. Whether you are considering one 10-week term or the possibility of continuing across successive terms, contact Asia Pathway for personalised guidance and the latest confirmed information.
