Program at a glance
Course: Regular Korean language program; non-degree study.
Duration: Ten weeks per term. Longer study combines consecutive terms.
Teaching hours: 200 hours per term; Monday to Friday, four class periods per day.
Levels: Levels 1–6, from beginner to advanced.
Class size: Typically around 15 students.
Location: Ajou University, Suwon, South Korea.
Build Korean step by step
- Levels 1–2: learn Hangul, pronunciation and practical language for everyday situations.
- Levels 3–4: strengthen everyday communication, understand more media content and develop discussion skills.
- Levels 5–6: develop more advanced vocabulary and expression for academic, professional and current-affairs contexts.
New students take a placement assessment. Writing practice progresses towards more structured texts and TOPIK-style tasks as your level develops; advancement depends on meeting attendance and assessment requirements.
Experience Korean beyond the classroom
Cultural activities and Global Buddy opportunities can help you practise communication and understand Korean life more closely. Activities depend on the centre’s schedule and participation arrangements. Speak with Asia Pathway about the experiences available during your intended study period.
A possible pathway towards university study
Completing an accepted Level 3 university-affiliated Korean course can satisfy one language-evidence route for Ajou’s Korean-Track freshman admission. You must still meet all nationality, academic, documentation and admission requirements; language-course completion does not guarantee degree admission.
Entry requirements and study planning
- High-school graduation or an accepted equivalent qualification.
- Passport, academic documents and the supporting financial and family documents required for your application.
- Document authentication and translations where required.
- Appropriate immigration permission for your nationality and study length.
Asia Pathway will help check the applicable enrolment period and visa-document requirements before you commit to a study plan. A ten-week teaching term is not a promise that a single-term enrolment will meet every visa route’s conditions.
Tuition per ten-week term
Estimated tuition: USD 1,160 for one ten-week term, before scholarships.
Initial application fee: approximately USD 75, charged for the first term and non-refundable.
Merit scholarships may support eligible students continuing to a subsequent term. Selection and award conditions apply. Tuition does not include accommodation, meals, insurance, textbooks, travel or personal expenses. USD amounts are rounded planning estimates. Ajou invoices fees in Korean won; exchange rates and university fees can change. Contact Asia Pathway for your current tuition quotation and scholarship assessment.
